Composition: Cefotaxime Sodium for Injection contains 0.5g or 1g Cefotaxime Sodium. 0.5g,1g.

Indications:

Infections caused by cefotaxime sodium-sensitive microorganisms, e.g. respiratory, tract infections, urinary tract infections, gastro-intestinal infections, meningitis, septicemia, infections of the skin and soft tissues, bone infections, ear, nose, and throat infections. It may be used for meningitis especially the childrens meningitis.

Administration and Dosage:

The adults dosage range is 2-6g per day 2 or 3 divided doses by injection. Severe infections: 2-3g every 6-8 hours. The highest dosage per day is 12g.

The treatment of pneumococcus pneumonitis with non-complication or acute urinarg tract infections, 1g 12-hourly. For prevention administration during surgery, 1g by i.m. or i.v. injection 0.5-1.5 hour before operation, 1g during operation.1g 6-8 hours after operation, should be given until 24 hours after operation.

Childrens dosage is 50-100mg/kg per day, when necessary 200mg/kg/day, given in 2 or 3 divided doses. Neonates (<7days) given once 12 hourly by injection. Neonates (7-28days) once 8 hourly, the single dose is 25 mg/kg.
